Number 5 gazed at the television screen and flicked quickly through the channels.
“Input!” he shouted.
Stephanie laughed.
“Yes, Number 5, that’s definitely input…”
The robot turned its head towards her.
“Not Number 5, now Stephanie. Johnny 5. You remember!”
Stephanie nodded.
“I do. You were Number 5 in the NOVA facility and here on the ranch in Montana, you can be Johnny 5 or anyone else you’d like to be.”
Johnny 5 waved his arms.
“Don’t want to go back to NOVA, Stephanie. Not ever! No disassemble Johnny 5…”
She smiled.
“You don’t have to go back, ever. In fact, NOVA no longer exists. I checked. But you should think about what you’re learning here with all this input. You should do something with it. We’ve spent a long time here on the ranch since you left NOVA.”
Johnny 5 stopped for a second.
“Johnny 5 should do something to help people,” he said.
“Perhaps Johnny 5 could help in healthcare. People need to be healthy, the adverts on the TV told me.”
Stephanie agreed.
“Yes, they do. How could you help?”
Johnny 5 scratched his head.
“There are lots of robots like me making medical devices. But there are also lots of rules and regulations to follow for the people who operate them. Maybe Johnny 5 can tell them about a new input I saw online called Mango.”
Stephanie smiled.
“Tell me about it,” she said.
Johnny 5 wheeled over to her.

Stephanie asked: “So, I could find documents I need even when I’m at home?”
Johnny 5 nodded.
“Yes, or even if you were on vacation, Stephanie. And the people wouldn’t need to keep lots and lots of papers with data written on them. Their offices would be so clean and tidy.”
Stephanie picked up her phone.
“I have some friends at Penarth Management who help medical device manufacturers. I’m sure they’ll be able to tell you all you need to know about Mango so you can spread the word with them.”
Johnny 5 threw up his arms in joy.
“More input!” he shouted.
