Getting Cold Feet about the new public safety law? Mango will help…

Jenny looked glumly at Adam over the top of her cocktail.

"Yes, the job's going well…so well that I hardly ever see Pete or little Adam…and Pete's threatening to cancel Valentine's Day…" she said, sighing.

"Well, little Adam's not so little now, is he? Even if you were at home all day, I suspect you'd barely see him. Maybe a grunt as he leaves the house in the morning," Adam said, cheerily.

"And Pete's too much of an old softy to cancel Valentine's Day. He'll have bought the frozen pizza by now!"

Jenny sighed again: "That's right, cheer me up! Look this is a fantastic job, being an events organiser for a prestigious chain of hotels. I meet celebrities and minor royals, travel to our sites in New York and Dubai every few months, and the money's great…"

Adam lifted his glass: "Cheers!"

Jenny took a sip and added: "But there are drawbacks. The main one is the sheer volume of paperwork we have to do to ensure we comply with all the health and safety, data protection, and environmental legislation. And it's only going to keep coming in 2025. Have you heard of the new Martyn's Law?"

Adam nodded: "Of course. None of us in Manchester can ever forget what happened in the arena bombing of 2017, can we? The new law is named after one of the innocent victims, Martyn Hett, and the campaign for it has been led by his mum, Figen Murray. The law will give venues like your hotels the legal duty of protecting the public. Even a property lawyer knows that…"

Jenny nodded: "I'm all for it. Anything that makes little Adam safer when he's out is fine by me. I just wish there was a way to manage things better than we don't the moment."

Adam smiled: "There is. Mango…"

Jenny looked at her drink in confusion: "No, clementine. It's a clementine martini."

Adam laughed: "No, Mango the online compliance software. We use it in the legal practice for managing all sorts of things - from our boiler safety certificates to staff training.

"We won't be covered by Martyn's Law but a few of our clients will. We act for the shopping centre management in the city centre and a couple of stately homes in Cheshire. We recommended Mango to them and they're using it to plan for things like the risk assessments they'll need to carry out and the staff training they'll need to ensure the public is protected."

He opened his laptop and pushed it towards Jenny: "Here's the website. Take a look."

Jenny clicked through the pages: "It seems ideal! Adam, you might just have saved my marriage!"

Adam laughed: "Brilliant! The next round's on you then. So, let's get back to the most important question…Will it be pepperoni or margarita?"

Jenny threw a segment of clementine at him in disgust.
