For organisations who recognise the importance of effective health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace (which may include those who operate an existing ISO 45001 Health and Safety Management System) there is a Standard, BS 30416:2023 - Menstruation, Menstrual Health and Menopause in the Workplace that may be of interest for anyone employing women. BS 30416 is a guide developed by BSI. It offers practical guidance to support employees experiencing symptoms of the the menstrual cycle that can impact on the quality of life at work.
The guide can currently be accessed from the BSI website for free. It aims to deal with myths around menstruation and the menopause, as well as providing pratical ideas of ways that an employer can make physical and cultural adjustments in the workplace to ensure the comfort of affected employees (including prospective employees) and to raise awareness and understanding of others in the workplace.
