Pat beamed: “I just love the Olympics! The opening ceremony, the athletics, the swimming, the volleyball…”
He turned to Alison and asked: “Can we watch all of it?”
Alison laughed and nodded: “We’ll leave two TVs on day and night for you. Whatever you want to watch.”
Julian snorted: “Bet he won’t want to watch the archery!”
Pat sighed: “Actually, I will. I was always fond of it. I won’t be put off just because one scout shot an arrow through my neck and killed me.”
Alison raised her eyebrows.
“You know we’re having an Olympics themed event to publicise the hotel at Button House? I promise we won’t be including archery,” she told Pat.
Pat shrugged: “But you will need proper health and safety planning for your visitors. After all, you don’t want any more of us ghosts trapped here, do you?”
Alison shook her head: “No, you lot are more than enough, thanks. Mike’s been talking to health and safety consultants at Penarth Management who are helping us ensure we’ve got everything in place for the insurance company and the local authority.
“We’re getting Mango…”
Robin the caveman looked away from the window and asked: “What mango?”
“A fruit used in some of my favourite House of Commons cocktails,” Julian replied.
Alison laughed: “No, it’s online compliance software called Mango. It keeps all our important documents in the cloud so we can get at them wherever there’s an internet connection. It keeps all our certificates for things like public liability insurance, boiler safety, and first aid training, all without loads of paperwork in the office.”
Robin asked: “How keep in cloud in sky?”
Julian laughed: “No, it’s a storage system for computers like the one in Alison’s office.”
Robin nodded: “Lap Top…”
Pat said: “I’ve been watching the news and heard about the new Martyn’s Law, too. You’ll have to have a good plan to keep the public safe during your events with proper training and training records, good communications, and a detailed risk assessment. It’s named after Martyn Hett who died in the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017, the news said.”
Alison nodded: “Yes, that’s another good reason for us to get Mango to keep all our records and plans in one place.”
Pat sighed: “There’s so much to think about when you stage events, Alison. Sure you want to do it?”
She smiled: “Yes, I am. Mike and I are running in the three-legged race…”
“What three-legged race?” asked Robin.
