This week is Business Continuity Awareness week, a global event facilitated by the Business Continuity Institute to raise awareness of the latest trends in business continuity, and the value effective business continuity can bring to organisations.
Do you have a Business Continuity Plan?
The theme of this year's BCAW 2018 is "Working together to improve organisational resilience". A business continuity plan is a useful tool to help organisations plan for the unexpected - a data breach (something we're all becoming acutely aware of with the GDPR regulations coming into force next week), supply chain failure, cyber attack, utilities supply failure or natural disaster.
Fail to plan: plan to fail
However large or small your business, if you have no plan in place to deal with potential challenges, the outcomes can be far worse than if you have a preplanned course of action to follow. Putting together a Business Continuity Plan for your organisation will help you to identify potential threats to your business, and put plans and policies in place to help reduce disruption if the unexpected does occur.
