Quality
As a Training Provider ourselves, we understand the processes associated with the provision of this type of service.
We recognise the need to identify what courses delegates are looking for, whether that is a standard, accredited course, or whether the client is looking for a more specialist (bespoke) course tailored just for them.
We appreciate that once you have identified the courses that you are going to offer, the next steps will include marketing, managing delegate bookings, allocating tutors, booking the course venue, producing training materials and possibly even liaising with an Awarding Body.
Increasingly, as Training Providers tender for opportunities to supply to the public sector and large corporate clients, they come under pressure to demonstrate evidence of certification to a formal Quality Management Standard, such as ISO9001.
For those Training Providers who are recognised by relevant Awarding Bodies, it is likely they will already have most of the controls in place, and these may even be largely documented. However, it can be beneficial for such companies to work with consultants like Penarth Management Limited in order to fully appreciate that what they already have goes some way towards meeting the requirements of the Standard, and what additional work will need to be done in order to close the gap.

Environment
Again it is often the tender process driving the need for evidence of commitment to sound environmental management principles within the training industry.
Training Providers may already have thought of how to minimise the effect of transporting Tutors and materials to a course venue; the type and source of paper used in course materials, and even the amount of energy that will be used during the running on the course. There can be a benefit in taking this to the next stage and implementing a formal Environmental Management System to meet the requirements of ISO14001.

Health and Safety
From a Health and Safety perspective, again because we are Training Providers ourselves, we fully understand the hazards that exist within the industry. We recognise that for the Tutors themselves, travel remains one of the single biggest hazards.
For Tutors and Training Coordinators/Training Administrators alike, the issue of Manual Handling is obviously an area of concern when dealing with course materials.
Within the classroom environment (whether it is being run in-house, in your own premises or at an external venue such as a hotel) there is also the need to consider the safety of delegates from making sure they are properly briefed on the emergency arrangements, to ensuring there are no trip hazards.
Naturally, having experienced all of these issues ourselves, we are well placed to assist with implementing control mechanisms have proven effective for these types of situations.
Clearly, the effective management of health and safety is a legal requirement, but increasingly, Training Providers are being asked to supply evidence of their compliance with health and safety requirements. By implementing a formal Occupational Health and Safety Management System to the requirements of OHSAS18001 Training Providers can look to demonstrate evidence of third party certification to a recognised Standard as a means of reinforcing their commitment to health and safety management.
