The Highways Agency has developed National Highways Agency Sector Schemes (NHSS) to apply the Quality Management Standard ISO9001 to the various activities associated with the highways industry in order to:
Following instruction from a major customer, the Highways Agency, Ashworth Tree Services were obliged to implement a Quality Management System incorporating the requirements of ISO9001:2008 and National Highways Sector Scheme 18 (NHSS18) for the Environment & Landscape including Ecology.
Penarth Management and Ashworth worked together to build and implement the system which was successfully assessed to both Standards by SGS in July 2009.

In essence, the Sector Schemes recognise that working alongside the highways can be a hazardous working environment for people employed within this sector and therefore requires that companies have stringent controls in place to ensure that the work is carried out safely and in accordance with client requirements.
