Integrated Management Systems in this context describes a management system for businesses that conform to more than one Standard. Usually this is a combination of two or more of the following:
Sequence provide digital media services ranging from the delivery of web strategy consulting to project based web applications. They successfully achieved UKAS accreditation to ISO9001:2008 and subsequently added ISO14001:2004 certification.
"Thank you very much for all your hard work and support. We felt in very safe hands! We look forward to working with you again in future." Nia Campbell, Administrator, Sequence, Cardiff
though there are various other Standards that are important in specific industry sectors which can be linked into an integrated system; for example:
Where management wish to comply with at least two of the Standards, there is sufficient commonality to justify integrating these and having an Integrated Management System.
For example, the requirements for auditing, logging and correcting problems and for management to review these and for continual improvement of the business is the same in each of the Standards. By having an integrated system, much duplication of management effort can be avoided.
We recommend that anybody starting from scratch to implement a Quality Management System would be well advised to integrate ISO14001 which is the Environmental Standard and OHSAS18001 which is the Health & Safety Standard because inevitably they will want to comply with these Standards at some time in the future. It is more economical to tackle the three at once rather than undertake one each year.
The accolade of having the three certificates in place is a powerful indicator to prospective customers that the business is well managed.
